How we approach gutter repair
We diagnose before quoting a replacement. Reverse pitch from a failed hanger, a separated inside corner, spikes that have worked loose from soft fascia, or a downspout outlet undersized for the roof area feeding it are all repairs. Replacing a whole elevation for any of those is an expensive way to solve a cheap problem.
Where replacement genuinely is the answer, we roll seamless aluminium on site to the exact length of each run, which removes every mid-run joint and with it the most common leak point. Oversized 6-inch trough and larger downspouts are worth specifying on steep or large roof areas where a standard 5-inch run simply cannot carry a summer downpour.
Most gutter failures are fastener failures. Spikes work loose over years of freeze-thaw and load, the trough drops, and water then sits in the low section instead of running to the outlet. Re-hanging on hidden hangers at the correct slope fixes the actual cause; re-driving the original spikes into the same hole does not.
We also correct the parts of the system people ignore: seams that have opened and now drip onto the wall, outlets undersized for the roof area feeding them, mitres that were caulked instead of sealed properly, and downspouts discharging next to the foundation rather than being extended away from it. Those details decide whether the water actually leaves the property.
When to book
Repairs are done from spring through autumn while sealants can cure; problems are usually discovered during winter or during the first heavy rain after it.
What drives the price
Linear footage being re-hung or replaced, height and access, the number of mitres and outlets, and whether fascia has rotted behind the gutter set the price.

Gutter Repair questions
Can a sagging gutter be repaired or does it need replacing?
Nearly always repaired. Sagging is a hanger and pitch problem, and re-hanging with hidden hangers into sound fascia costs a fraction of a new run. Replacement is warranted when the metal itself is corroded or the sectional seams have failed throughout.
Are gutter guards worth installing?
On a property with mature trees overhead, yes — they cut cleaning frequency significantly. On an open lot they rarely pay for themselves. Either way they reduce maintenance rather than eliminate it.
Should I go with 6-inch eavestrough?
Worth it on large or steep roof areas, and on any run that has historically overflowed despite being clean and correctly pitched. Standard 5-inch is fine for typical {city} roof areas.
How long does an installation take?
Most homes are a single day, including removal and disposal of the old trough. Homes with multiple roof levels or fascia repair run to two.
